A classic Victorian buckle ring, intricately hand engraved. These rings were used as symbols of love, fidelity, and unbreakable bonds in relationships romantic and platonic. Instead of a pierced buckle style, this one has a simple, smooth belt loop holding the overlapping end, which comes to a point. The entire ring has a pattern of ivy vines in higher relief with pebbled texture in between, and a notched border. Driving the theme home, ivy was used as a symbol of everlasting love. Hallmarked for Birmingham, 1892.
