From the early 20th century and totally stunning. An oval locket, covered on front and back with intricate, flawless hand engraving of flourishes and flowers. On the front, a scrolling shield shape bears the initials 'EW' - could be your initials, or maybe you'll see it as the word "ew" and keep a photo of something a little gross inside. The interior has a bit of fabric on one side, gold fineness marks on the other, and no glass, so it will hold any memento you like. The back, in addition to more hand engraving, has full hallmarks for Birmingham, 1906.
Some dark patina near the bail loop, and minor surface scratches consistent with age. Overall great antique condition.
34mm total hanging length. 21mm wide, 4.5mm deep. Bail opening is 5.5mm.
Marked 9k, tests at 10k
