Victorian Revival from the 1930s or ‘40s, this ring features a rectangular sardonyx carved with a flower. Likely playing into Victorian flower language, the flower is a little ambiguous. It could be an aster, meaning patience or faith; a bachelor’s button, communicating availability; or possibly a carnation, meaning love and devotion. The stone is held in an ornate filigree mounting, openwork swirls tapering onto the shoulders. The shank has been replaced.

Sardonyx is 17.5 by 11mm. Setting is 20.5mm at widest point, band narrows to 2mm. 6mm rise from finger.
