A perfect golden miniaturization of the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain in London, depicting Anteros, the Greek god of requited love. More commonly referred to as Eros, Anteros’ brother, he’s shown mid-stride, having just loosed an arrow from his bow. A swath of fabric drapes around him just enough for some slight modesty, and he wears a crown of laurels. One wing seems to bend in the wind, and the underside of the base reads “EROS LONDON”. Hallmarked for Birmingham, 1971.
