A stunning cushion old mine cut diamond in an art deco platinum and yellow gold setting. The diamond is .85 carat indented natural, I-J in color and SI2 in clarity, estimated circa 1860. It’s set in an octagon of platinum, milligrained around the edges. This sits on a raised platform of yellow gold, hand engraved with a flower under the stone at North and South, and a leaf pattern running down the shoulders. A stripe of platinum runs down the center of the shoulders, engraved with a cross-hatch pattern. The interior of the ring is engraved “M.E. June 5, 1935”.
Some wear to the engraving, consistent with age, and small evidence of a resize at the bottom of the shank. Overall excellent condition.
Size 4, could be sized up to a 6
8mm at widest point, tapering to 3mm at bottom of shank. 5mm rise from finger. Diamond is 6 by 6mm.
